On 27 and 28 April, the twelfth international City Health conference took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The event attracted over 100 attendees from 15 countries joined by a number of people who took advantage of the conference being live streamed.
The main focus of the Conference was to look at the need and benefits of effectively responding to the harms associated with drugs, alcohol, and non-communicable diseases. Clearly these issues do not exist in isolation, and City Health has a particular interest in examining these issues in their social and policy context.
The conference concluded with the presentation of a declaration, in which participants expressed their desire to continue to work towards improving health and also proposed concrete steps to help achieve this goal. The text of the declaration is available here - there is still time to express your opinion and for amendments to be made (until the end of May), after which it will be published on the organisers' website. We encourage you to view the presentations and videos.
