On 21–22 November 2025, we had the pleasure of supporting and co-organizing the “SOLID Workshop: From Practitioners to Educators – Teaching Social Work with Impact” held at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek in Tashkent. The workshop brought together specialists, university lecturers, and practitioners from Central Asia and Germany, creating a valuable platform for sharing experiences and strengthening contemporary methods in social work education.

Throughout the two-day event, participants explored key topics related to curriculum development and practice-oriented teaching in social work, including:

  • designing courses and modules for Social Work curricula,
  • incorporating topics such as drug dependency, infectious diseases, and social work in prison settings into university programs,
  • bridging theory and practice through case studies, practical exercises, group work, discussions, site visits, and practitioner-led sessions,
  • using online teaching tools in Social Work education,
  • reviewing resources that support course development, including both publications and online materials.

From our side, Dr. Katarzyna Kowalczyk delivered a workshop on the use of AI in the work of university teachers, demonstrating how modern AI tools can support lesson planning, content creation, and interactive teaching strategies.

The event marked an important step towards strengthening social work education in the region and fostering collaboration between academic institutions and practitioners across Central Asia.
